AUSTIN SEUNGMIN LEE is a multi-media designer and researcher. He earned his M.F.A. from Graduate Media Design Program at Art Center in Pasadena where his thesis focused on the inscription of movements in a future of digitally enabled environments. His research interests include using the environment as an effective communication medium through applying computation in creative contexts, prototyping, collecting data and story telling as a way to address interesting and playful aspects of the modern digital life. In 2010, he was awarded a NASA SPACE GRANT to work at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory as visual strategist and researcher. His work, "Responsive Causality" won the 2010 "Red Dot" distinction for high design quality and Honorable Mention for 2010 Adobe Design Achievement Awards. Based on his practice, Austin was selected to conduct a hands-on design research workshop at 2010 Swiss Design Network Conference in Basel, Switzerland. Austin is currently a Research Assistant at the MIT Media Lab's Tangible Media Group.
